The word "director" is a title that many filmmakers aspire to, and for Mark Butchat, who lives in an unnamed town in Wisconsin, it is his life's greatest dream. This film is directed by Chris Smith, recording that in order to fulfill his dream of directing, Mark dispatched his family, relatives and friends to act as actors, plus his credit card and Uncle Bill borrowed him 3,000 yuan, intending to complete a horror short film; The film faithfully chronicles Mark's persistence in making the film and some of his personal problems – including alcoholism, gambling and family discord – from which the audience can get to know the people around him: his dear mother, his 82-year-old uncle, and one of Mark's actor friends. This is a faithful documentary about a man's ambitions, obsessions, and the "American Dream" in pursuit of his personal ideals.
