Uzo Aduba from "Women's Prison," Aunjanue Ellis from "Hippolyta" and Sanaa Lathan, who was just nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Guest Actress in a Drama with "Lisa" for "Succession," will team up at Searchlight Pictures' new film, The Supremes At Earl's All-You-Can-Eat.
Based on the 2013 novel by Edward Kelsey Moore, the film is directed by Tina Mabry, who won the Chicago International Film Festival for "The Cursed Mississippi," and Gina Prince-Bythewood for "The Beauty of Dahomey" and "The Eternal Guard."
The story revolves around "Odette", "Clarice" and "Barbara Jean", who met in high school and formed a girlfriend group called "The Supremes", who have been together for more than 40 years. The restaurant in Plainview, Indiana, is their other home; Here they share things about marriage, children, happiness, sorrow, and so on, and work together through the storms of life. And for the three sisters, the most challenging year has just arrived: the proud, talented Clarice struggles to make life normal in the face of her husband's shameful infidelity; The beautiful Barbara Jean is struck by the tragic effects of a young romance, while the always fearless Odette is about to embark on the most terrifying battle of her life.
In both of Edward's novels, these three friends who help each other are the protagonists; It captures the value of female friendship, and with its humorous and heartwarming brushstrokes, it quickly received an enthusiastic response after its launch.
