Twelve-year-old Josh (Tom Hanks) seems to have some opinions about his age: too short to ride a loop pulley, too young to catch up with the girl he likes...... So he threw 25 cents into an old wishing machine in the playground and made a wish to become an adult. Unexpectedly, when he woke up the next day, Josh found that he had grown nearly 20 years old overnight, and now he was an out-and-out adult, and even his mother thought he was a stranger who kidnapped her son and kicked him out. Josh had to make a living on his own and found a position at a toy company. By chance, Josh's childlike innocence and enthusiasm impress the owner of the toy company, and his ideas are often rewarded for his work, and he soon lives in a spacious apartment and has a romantic relationship with his young colleague Susan (Elizabeth Perkins). However, as the pressures of the adult world of work, life, and love began to approach Josh, Josh's heart, which had just turned 13, gradually felt sleepy and lost, and he began to wonder if this was the growth he wanted......
The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay.
