In Louisiana in the 18th century, Louie (Brad Pitt), the owner of the manor, who lost his wife and daughter, met the vampire Lestat (Tom Cruise) and was turned into a vampire by his spell. Louis is human and unwilling to suck blood and kill, living by sucking the blood of animals, while Lestat is bent on teaching Louis to be a true bloodsucker.
In New Orleans, Louis can't resist the temptation to suck the blood of the little girl Claudia (Kirsten Dunst), while Lestat turns Claudia into a vampire despite Louis's objections. Three people make a peculiar family.
Decades passed, and Claudia began to resent Lestat for depriving him of his true life, and she designed to kill Lestat, and traveled the world with Louie, living a life that was both father and daughter and lover, looking for her own kind and the meaning of her own existence.
In Paris, they meet a group of vampires led by Amon (played by Antonio Banderas), who live in the basement of the theater and live a very different life from them.
In 1988, Louis returned to New Orleans and told a young reporter Malloy (played by Christian Slater) about his experience, telling the grief behind the vampire's immortality.
